DAY 1
-
Arrival at Alfredo Vásquez Cobo Airport in Leticia.
-
Meet and greet your tour guide, then depart in a customized Amazon tour vehicle for the group. Travel 7 km along the Leticia Highway via Tarapacá to the Witoto Community.
-
Upon arrival at the community, your tour guide will provide instructions and provide guidance at the departure point.
-
We begin our adventure with a hike along indigenous trails through the terra firme rainforest, observing the area's flora and fauna.
-
During the tour, we will learn about species used in ethnobotany.
-
We will visit the traditional crops of the Witoto indigenous people, where we will learn about crops such as coca, plantains, and wild yuca (toxic yuca).
-
After this pleasant and interesting 1-hour hike, we will return to the Witoto community.
-
We arrive at the Maloca of Shaman William (a Witoto Indigenous person).
-
Recognition of plant species such as Yagé, Coca, and Tobacco, and the methods of their extraction and preparation in the Witoto culture.
-
Then we begin a discussion about the Witoto culture, covering topics such as the maloca as a domestic and culturally significant space, coca as the power of the word, and Yagé as shamanic power and strength.

Departure to the treehouses.

Night walk in the terra firme jungle. Observation of nocturnal fauna, the moon path, and the infinite sounds of the jungle at night.
DAY 2

Breakfast 7:00 am

Departure to Leticia, where immigration procedures will be completed to leave Colombia and enter Brazil.
-
Transfer to the river dock on the Amazon River.
-
Departure on Amazon tour boats, we will navigate downstream along the Amazon River in search of the course of the Javari River, and then sail down the Javari River to the Heliconias Nature Reserve (Brazil).
-
Orientation at the imaginary point of the three borders, with spectacular panoramic views of border cities in Brazil, Peru, and Colombia.
-
During the tour on the mighty Amazon River, we will appreciate the Amazon rainforest and the riverside villages of Indigenous people and settlers such as Benjamín Constant, Atalaia do Norte (Brazil), and Islandia (Peru).
-
After this exciting experience of navigating the great Amazon River and the Yavarí River (more than 90 km and approximately 4 hours of navigation), we will arrive at the Heliconias Nature Reserve.

DAY 3

Breakfast 7:00 a.m.

Jungle Hike: In the morning, we will explore the mainland jungle. During our walk, we will identify species used in ethnobotany and learn about the dynamics of the jungle.

Observe the extraction of rubber latex and the history of rubber.
-
Observe the fauna of the mainland area. (Approximately 3-hour hike)
-
Lunch at the Heliconia Nature Reserve.
-
During the afternoon, we will explore the area surrounding the Heliconias Nature Reserve in traditional canoes. We will visit Lake Cristina, which surrounds the Heliconias Nature Reserve.
-
We will explore the jungle's aquatic trails in paddle canoes.
-
Dinner.

Night Safari: Boat trip to observe nocturnal wildlife such as caimans.
-
Accommodation in cabins with beds and mosquito nets.

DAY 4
-
Optional: Wake up at 5:30 a.m. Canoe trip for birdwatching (binoculars suggested).

Breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
-
Walk through nature trails in floodplain forest landscapes for 2:30 minutes to Lake Onca. (This activity is carried out by canoe during the high-water season from February to June.)
-
During our tour, we will explore the flora and fauna of the varzea forest on the shores of Lake Onca.
-
Lunch at the Heliconia Nature Reserve.
-
Afternoon of artisanal fishing for piranhas and other fish species from the Amazonian lakes and rivers.
-
Dinner.
-
Night walk in the jungle to observe nocturnal wildlife, including the "moon path," bioluminescent mushrooms.
DAY 5

Optional: Wake up at 5:00 a.m. Walk through the jungle; sunrise marks the end of the nocturnal wildlife activity.

Departure for Leticia, Colombia

Arrival in Leticia, immigration procedures to leave Brazil and enter Colombia.

Departure for the Tekuna Lodge Indigenous Reserve.

Overnight at the Tekuna Lodge Indigenous Reserve.

Lunch at the Tekuna Lodge Indigenous Reserve.
-
Kayaking in the Yahuarcaca Gorge or taking a boat ride to the Yahuarcaca Lakes, swimming in the lake.

Return to the Tekuna Lodge.

Dinner at Tekuna Lodge.

Nighttime boat ride over the Yahuarcaca Gorge and Lakes.
DAY 6

Breakfast 7:30 AM

Departure by boat to the Marasha Nature Reserve (Peru) (travel time 20 minutes)
-
Upon arrival in Peru, we will walk along nature trails through floodplain forest landscapes for 2:30 minutes to the Marasha Nature Reserve (Peru).

During our tour, we will explore the flora and fauna species of the forest.

Canoe or kayak trip on Lake Marasha.

Watch exotic birds such as the hoatzin.

Visit the "grandfather" ceiba tree, an imposing tree over 400 years old.

Dinner at the Marasha Nature Reserve.

Optional: Boat trip on Lake Marasha or a night hike through the Varzeas forest.
DAY 7

Breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
-
Water trail to the Amazon River. This is a spectacular landscape of water covered with lake vegetation.
-
Departure by speedboat and navigate upstream on the Amazon River to the community of Mocagua (a Ticuna indigenous reserve, neighboring Amacayacu National Natural Park).
-
During our tour, we enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the mighty Amazon River, admire the Amazon rainforest, and see the riverside villages of the Ticuna and Yagua indigenous people of Peru and Colombia.
-
We arrive at the community of Mocagua and are welcomed by the community residents.
-
We then begin our hike along the Maikuchiga Trail to the monkey house (a jungle trail on dry land and flooded).
-
We will explore jungle landscapes, species used in ethnobotany, and observe wildlife.
-
Instruction and identification of New World primate species, their distribution, and ecology will be provided.
-
We will arrive at the Maikuchiga monkey house, where we will meet and interact with some of the recovering monkey species, such as the White-faced, Churuco, Frailes, Maiceros, and Capuchin monkeys, which are part of the first stage of their readaptation to the natural environment.
-
Talk about the monkeys' recovery process, behavior, ecological function, stages of their return to the natural environment, participation of the Mocagua community, and benefits for the community. Return to the community (visiting the Maikuchiga monkey house during high water is only possible by canoe).

Lunch in the Mocagua community.

Departure to Puerto Nariño (approximately 30 minutes by boat).
-
Visit to the Naipata viewpoint for a spectacular panoramic view of Puerto Nariño and the Amazon River.
-
Visit to the Tarapoto lakes, and observe pink and gray Amazon river dolphins.
-
Overnight at the Amazon Açaí Lodge.

DAY 8

Breakfast 7:00 a.m.

Departure by speedboat to Leticia.
-
Arrival in Leticia. Leticia and Tabatinga City Tour by Taxi (approximately 2 hours).

Visit the Leticia market and artisan galleries, the Tabatinga-Brazil and Leticia-Colombia border, the Tabatinga market, the Tabatinga commercial area, and the Comara viewpoint.

Transfer to the airport one hour before the flight.

It is essential to have the citizenship card, if you are a minor, identity card, or civil registry and the authorization of the parents (if only one of the parents accompanies you and if the program requires you to leave the country), if you are a foreigner resident in Colombia the immigration card or passport (verify validity of the passport), as well as the current international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever, (apply with a minimum of 10 days before the trip.) and against tetanus. (Vaccines are mandatory for this plan).
