AMAZON HELICONIA PLAN
4 Nights / 5 Days
DAY 1 – Arrival and Navigation on the Amazon and Javari Rivers
Arrival in Leticia, immigration procedures to enter Brazil, and transfer to the river dock.
Navigation along the Amazon River and then the Javari River toward the Heliconias Nature Reserve (approx. 4 hours).
Along the route, you will observe riverside villages and the imaginary point where Brazil, Peru, and Colombia meet.
Arrival at the reserve, area orientation, accommodation in cabins, and dinner.
DAY 2 – Jungle Hike and Flooded Forest Lakes
Breakfast and hike through terra firme forest to identify useful species in ethnobotany, learn about jungle dynamics, and observe wildlife.
Demonstration of natural latex (rubber) extraction.
Lunch at the reserve.
In the afternoon, canoe ride through the lakes surrounding the reserve (Cristina Lake and Onça Lake), appreciating the flooded forest.
Dinner and night safari by boat for wildlife observation.
DAY 3 – Palmarí Community and Cachoeira Stream
Optional sunrise birdwatching.
Breakfast and navigation to the riverside community of Palmarí.
Visit to homes, crops, and fruit species grown in the area.
Jungle hike to Cachoeira, a natural forest stream, with time for swimming.
Return to the reserve, lunch, and artisanal fishing (including piranhas).
Dinner and rest.
DAY 4 – Lakes, Peruvian Community, and Wildlife
Optional sunrise birdwatching.
Breakfast and canoe trip to Tartaruga Lake, admiring the flooded forest landscape.
Lunch at the reserve.
Visit to the Peruvian community of Santa Rita, village walk, cultural exchange, and visit to the centennial ceibo tree.
Observation of pink and gray river dolphins.
Dinner and night walk on jungle trails.
DAY 5 – Return to Leticia
Early breakfast and departure to Tabatinga (Brazil).
Immigration procedures to re-enter Colombia.
Transfer to Leticia airport.
