Day 1

  • Arrival at the Alfredo Vásquez Cobo Airport in the city of Leticia.

  • Meeting with your guide for the excursion, reception, departure in Amazon Vehicle, customized tour of the group, traveling 7 Km. Along the Leticia road via Tarapacá, bound for the Witoto Community.

  • Upon our arrival in the community. Your guide for the tour will give the instructions and Orientation at the starting point.

  • We begin our adventure with a walk through indigenous trails through the jungle of the highland, observing the fauna and flora of the area.

  • During the tour we will know some species of use in ethnobotany.

  • Visit the traditional crops of indigenous Witotos where we will know species of crops such as coca, bananas and yuca brava (toxic yucca).

  • After this pleasant and interesting 1 hour journey.

  • We arrived at the Maloca of the shaman William (Indigenous Witoto).

  • Recognition of plant species such as Yagé, Coca and Tabaco, and the form of extraction, preparation in the Witoto culture.

  • Then we started a conversation about the Witoto culture of topics such as the maloca as a domestic space and cultural signage, coca as the power of the word, and yagé power and shamanic force: by the shaman William.

  • Departure to the cabins in the trees.

  • Dinner

  • Night walk in the jungle of the highland. Observation of nocturnal fauna, the moon road and the infinite sounds of the jungle at night.

 

Day 2

  • Breakfast 8:00 am

  • Reception, immigration procedure to leave Colombia and enter Brazil.

  • Transfer to the river dock on the Amazon River.

  • Departure in an Amazon tour speed boat, we navigate the Amazon River downstream in search of the course of the Javari River, we sail the Javarí river to the Heliconia Nature Reserve (Brazil).

  • Orientation in the imaginary point of the three borders, spectacular panoramic view of border cities of Brazil, Peru and Colombia.

  • During the trip over the imposing river, we appreciate the Amazonian rainforest and the riverside towns of natives and settlers like Benjamín Constant -Brazil and Islandia -Perú.

  • Lunch on board.

  • After this exciting experience of navigating the great Amazon River and the Yavarí River (approximately 5 hours sailing).

  • Arrival to the Heliconia Nature Reserve.

  • Recognition of the area.

  • Reception, accommodation.

  • Dinner.

 

Day 3

  • Breakfast 8:00 a.m.

  • Jungle trek: In the morning we will make an incursion into the jungle of the mainland, during our tour we will make a recognition of species of use in ethnobotany, knowing the dynamics of the jungle.

  • Observation of the extraction of rubber "latex", rubber history.

  • Wildlife observation of the mainland area. (Approximately 3 hours of walking) Lunch in the Heliconias Nature Reserve.

  • During the afternoon we will reconnoiter the area of ​​the Heliconias Natural Reserve in traditional canoes visiting the lakes surrounding the Heliconias Lake Cristina and Onca Nature Reserve.

  • We appreciate the jungle water trails in canoes.

  • Dinner

  • Night Safari: departure by a local boat for an wildlife observation.

 

Day 4

  • Optional: raised 5:30 a.m. Departure by canoe for bird watching. (It is suggested to bring binoculars).

  • Breakfast 8-00 A.M.

  • Departure by local boat to the Ribeiric Community of Palmarí.

  • Visit to the community and settlers descendants of rubber tappers of the Javarí river.

  • In our visit to the community we will make a tour between houses and crops.

  • We visited the crops of cassava brava (toxic cassava) and tropical fruit species such as Copuazú, Acaí.

  • Then we start the hike along the high jungle path to Cachoeira (a small stream of jungle origin).

  • Arrival to the Cachoeira, natural pool.

  • Bath in the Cachoeira creek.

  • Return to the Heliconia Nature Reserve.

  • Lunch in the Heliconias Nature Reserve.

  • Artisanal fishing activity, capture of piranhas and observation of fish species from the Amazonian rivers.

  • Dinner

  • Optional: Night walk through the jungle of the mainland to observe the moon path (bioluminescent fungi) and nocturnal fauna.

 

Day 5

  • Breakfast very early in the morning.

  • Departure to Leticia (Colombia).

  • Arrival in Leticia, immigration procedure to leave Brazil and enter Colombia.

  • Transfer to the river dock on the Amazon River.

  • Departure to the Flor de Loto Nature Reserve.

  • Accommodation in the Lotus Flower Reserve.

  • Lunch

  • Visit to the victoria regia- lily pads (the largest lotus in the world).

  • Canoeing in the lakes of Yahuarcaca, bathing in the lake.

  • If the weather permits, we will have a beautiful sunset on the banks of the great Amazon River.

  • Dinner

  • Night tour by boat over the lakes of Yahuarcaca.

 

Day 6

  • Breakfast 7:30

  • Departure by boat to the Marasha Natural Reserve (Peru) (travel time 20 minutes)

  • Upon our arrival in Peru, we walk through natural trails of 2:30-minute floodplain rainforest to the Marasha Natural Reserve (Peru).

  • During our tour we will recognize species of flora and fauna of the varzea forest on the banks of the Amazon River.

  • Arrival at Marasha Natural Reserve, lodging.

  • Lunch

  • Canoe or Kayak tour on Lake Marasha.

  • Observation of exotic birds of the environment such as hoatzin.

  • Visit to the "grandfather" tree of ceiba, imposing tree of more than 400 years.

  • Dinner at Marasha Natural Reserve.

  • Optional: Boat tour over Marasha lake or Night walk over the lowland forest.

 

Day 7

  • Breakfast 7:30 a.m.

  • Water trail to the Amazon River, this is a spectacular landscape of water covered with lacustrine vegetation.

  • Departure by speedboat we sail the Amazon River upstream to the Community of Mocagua. (Ticuna indigenous reservation, neighbors of the Amacayacú National Natural Park).

  • During our tour we have a spectacular panoramic view of the impressive Amazon River, we appreciate the Amazon rainforest and the riverside villages of indigenous Ticunas and Yaguas de (Peru and Colombia).

  • Arrival to the community of Mocagua, welcome from the residents of the community.

  • In our visit to the community we will make a tour between houses and crops, visit the lake of the community and appreciate the Victoria Regia, the largest lotus in the world.

  • Then we start the trek along the Maikuchiga trail to the house of the monkeys (highland jungle trails and flooded).

  • Recognizing jungle scenarios, species used in ethnobotany and wildlife observation.

  • Instruction and identification of new world primate species, distribution and ecology.

  • Arrival at the home of the Maikuchiga monkeys, contact and interaction with some of the species of recovering monkeys such as: Tamarins, Woolys, Squirrels, Maiceros or Capuchins, that are part of the first stage of readaptation to the natural environment.

  • Talk about the process of recovery of the monkeys, behavior, ecological function, stages for the reintegration into the natural environment, participation of the community of Mocagua, benefits for the community.

  • Return to the community (the visit to the house of the Maikuchiga monkeys during the high water season is only possible in canoes)

  • Lunch in the community of Mocagua.

  • Departure to Puerto Nariño (approximately 30 minutes sailing).

  • Accommodation at the Waira Selva hotel in Puerto Nariño,

  • Dinner

 

Day 8

  • Breakfast 8-00 A.M.

  • Visit to the Moroapu and Ticunas Maloca or grandparents' house.

  • During our visit, with the grandparents we will know the traditional crops where we will know about species of use in traditional medicine, the grandparents will tell us stories and they will sing in their mother tongue and we will learn about the indigenous Ticunas crafts such as weaving chambira and painting Yanchama (Fibras de palm and tree bark).

  • We will learn about the skills in the use of blowgun and bow and arrow.

  • Lunch at Las Margaritas restaurant in Puerto Nariño.

  • Visit to Puerto Nariño the natural manger of Colombia, tour of the town.

  • Visit to the Natutama Foundation, talk about dolphins and other mammals of the Amazon.

  • Visit to the Naipata viewpoint where we will have a spectacular panoramic view of Puerto Nariño and the Amazon River.

  • Departure to the lakes of Tarapoto.

  • Visit and swim in the lakes of Tarapoto.

  • Observation of pink and gray Amazon dolphins.

  • Accommodation at the Waira Selva hotel,

  • Dinner

 

Day 9

  • Breakfast 8:00 a.m.

  • Departure by speedboat to Leticia.

  • Transfer to the Waira Suites hotel.

  • Welcome cocktail

  • Lunch at the Hotel Waira

  • Walking tour through Leticia, visit to the Amazonian ethnographic museum in the Banco de la Republica library, Parque Santander, we observed the arrival of thousands of white-winged parrots, the center of Leticia, artisanal galleries.

  • Dinner

 

Day 1O

  • Breakfast 8:00 a.m.

  • City tour to Tabatinga by Taxi (2 hours approx.)

  • Visit to the border of Tabatinga Brazil and Leticia Colombia, the Tabatinga market and commercial area, the Comara viewpoint.

  • Transfer to the airport one hour before the flight.

  • It is essential to have the citizenship card, if you are a minor, identity card, or civil registry and the authorization of the parents (if only one of the parents accompanies you and if the program requires you to leave the country), if you are a foreigner resident in Colombia the immigration card or passport (verify validity of the passport), as well as the current international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever, (apply with a minimum of 10 days before the trip.) and against tetanus. (mandatory for any program).

  • Brazil requires a visa for reciprocity for some countries, for this plan it is necessary to process the visa, if your nationality requires it to enter Brazil.

  • Carry the medical assistance card or ID card or pre-paid medicine.
